The region is seeing large investments in the procurement of new air platforms and the upgrading of existing legacy aircraft. This is essentially where Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) comes in. The newer aircraft need to be serviced with the newer maintenance procedures and concepts and a lot of the older aircraft also need to be maintained to keep them airworthy.
As technology improves, so do the maintenance solutions and capabilities afforded to air forces to keep their precious multi-million dollar aircraft in the air. Furthermore, there seems to be a consensus within Asian air forces that they need to improve on the maintenance of both their fighter and airlift fleets.
